Hi. I stumbled on your forum in my Google searches tonight. My 18-yr nephew LOVES fishing but does not have access to any sort of boat to go out in the flats. For his upcoming high school graduation, some in our family have joined together to get him a used (but still in great shape) scanoe with a electric trolling motor.
We bought him a Cabela's One-Man Canoe Loader to use with his pickup truck. It arrived today but there is one thing we cannot figure out after putting it together. One of the pre-assembled parts is the T-bar. It is bolted on securely and does not rotate.
My question is: Is the pivoting action done at the T-Bar end or is it done at the trailer hitch end of the upright? I'm thinking it spins up at the T-bar, but since it is on so tight, I want to double check with you folks.
Thanks very much!

Your nephew is a lucky guy! I'm not familiar with Cabela's Canoe Loader and Rack, but I found the instructions online:
http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/content/community/product_features/pdf/images/boating/017442_canoerack.pdf
I think that the whole T-bar assembly pivots down near the hitch. Part number 12 in the instructions has a square fitting that attaches to the T-bar and a round bar on the bottom end that attaches close to the hitch. I think that's the axle around which it pivots. The instructions include photos showing how one person could load his or her canoe with it. If part number 12 is frozen in its fitting, you might have to take it back to Cabela's. Try it out by pulling on the ends of the T-bar. I'd imagine that would put a lot of torque on the axle. Maybe the axle is just a little tight.
