Well I got out , FINALLY!!!
In the water by 8:30am to catch the last couple of hours of the outgoing tide.
I was fihing with:
Sand worms on a flounder rig
Squid on a striper rig
Clams on a blackfish rig
Fished until 6 o'clock and didn't get one hit.
But.........
I fished hard for 9+ hours and relaxed all day.
Bait from Dees was excellent, they have whole uncleaned, huge, squid.
I have to think they get them from local waters. They only give you 2 3 but they are big and last forever.
Planning another trip tomorrow but haven't decided whrere to go yet.
Post a report if you have any suggestions.
Tight lines!

I'll head down to Shelton with Daryl, Billy and Kira in the morning tomorrow. Hopefully, we'll be on the water by 8:30 am. I'm not sure exactly where; I've never been there, so Billy is leading our expedition.

Thanks, BassRican, but I caught a few small (e.g., 16 inch) stripers on the Connecticut River last year. I'm looking for a keeper, now! Very Happy

Sandworms are like schoolie crack! They can't stay away from them, but that's all you catch.

Just to clarify:

Heading west on Interstate 84, the exit number is 15. It's a sharp U-turn exit, so slow down! Turn left at the light at the bottom of the off ramp and onto Route 34 (aka Main Street), pass one stop light and turn left again onto Caroline Street. Follow the beat up road until it crosses over the Derby Greenway and goes down to the parking lot for the park.

I remember my dad trolling 12-18" sandworms when i was a kid. The man caught huge stripers with this technique. Yes i said 12-18" sandworms. I remember seeing them. Wish i could get my hands on some now.
