Hey Yall,
Been a while since my first post and this is my first report. Haven't been out much;demanding job plus a father so yeah its a while between trips.
Hit up Lillinonah on Saturday
Time: 6:15am to 10:00am
Forecast: ~74-79, overcast with a quick storm about 8:45
Water Temp: 76-77
Water Clarity: Stained and level seemed a bit low
Spent most of the day trolling around 22-28 feet and casting tight to cover and retrieving to deep drop offs, typical bait depth was 8-12 feet. Most of this was done at creek beds, cover, rocky points and anything I could see on the graph. Was throwing a variety of baits (since I have 8-12 rods rigged at a time) but mostly a chartreuse KVD 1.5 crank, a white and blue Colorado blade spinner with trailer, white buzzbait and 3/8 oz black/blue finesse jig with black/red crawdad trailer. The other baits were a variety of a chigger craw, shaky head, senko, etc. Those didn't hit much but a few bumps and light bites but caught about 14 keepers of smallies and large on the others. Biggest bite of the day was a 4lb. (guessing since I didn't have my scale and I don't do the pic thing) smallie that I caught in a rocky area along a weed bed in about 2-6 feet of water. She hit like a log on the KVD and took a while to get in since she kept fightin to the end. I think this lake is fantastic and seems to be a place that alot of people fish. I fished it on Saturday and there was a tourney there on Sunday so that could be why I saw about 7 bass boats running from spot to spot but the place is big enough to not cause too much damage to you.
Hope you like the report and hopefully more to come. Has anyone fished this Tuesday night tourney on the CT River....I'm on vacation all week and thinkin about joining the fun! Where do you run from and how have the turnout been? |

The TNT tournaments on Tuesday are pretty cool, simple and easy no BS. You pay, you fish, you weigh in. Justin does a great job. I think its also a great way to learn the River. I have participated in 3 tourneys so far and been in the money twice. Pretty cool. Last night my partner and I boated 20 or so keeper river smallies and took second. Just a fun time!!.
There is also security and clean porta potties |
