Hi All,

I'm moving to the Danbury area and was looking for info on fishing. I came across this site and figured it would be a good idea to sign up and say hello.

I was born and raised in FL. I moved to MA several years ago when my wife took a new job up here. Some things changed and she took a new job in NY. I didn't want to live in NY so we went for CT.

I have done a little fishing up here in MA but have been very disappointed with most of the lakes I found. Going from fish the size of redfish, snook and tarpon, to what you find up here in the north has not helped at all. I'm not new to fresh water fishing but have far more experience in salt water; I do love catching good size bass.

Anyhow...We will be closing on a house in a week and I hope to start exploring the area a little. I'm sure this site will be a great resource.

Welcome! There are plenty of good lakes and ponds in the Danbury area, the fish may be a bit smaller than down south but there are decent sizes around, just check some of the pictures posted on this site.There are plenty of seasoned people who fish and can provide plenty of info. I'm in Danbury as well so i hope to see ya out there!

I have noticed a lot of lakes in the area. Once we get done with our move and the weather warms up I plan on exploring them.

Do they stock the lakes around the Danbury area? I know in MA there are a few lakes around that are stocked with trout for the colder months.

If you have a decent boat you cant beat candlewood.

I have a 14 foot John Boat but am in need of a trailer and small engine for it. Until I get those items I will be stuck shore fishing/wading.

I don't know if I would take a jon boat out on candlewood, I can get hairy out here. maybe if you stayed in lattens cove or squants cove but not much beyond there.

Hey man i'm from danbury, try ball pond in new fairfield, no motors alound no matter what the power source is but it is one of the best bass areas in conneticut. Kenoshia is near danbury fair mall, you can bring electric motors and it has decent bass. candlewood good if you have a bigger boat and enjoy alot of noise and other boaters, my advice stay away.

Question...I do not have a trailer for my boat yet so I will be shore fishing for a while. Is there any good places for that near Danbury?

I stumbled across Collis P. Huntington State Park this past week and noticed it has 5 lakes. Anyone fish those? The park info says the lakes in there are stocked. I may give them a try soon.

You jon boat will be great without a motor since some or many of these smaller lakes allow "row boats"



Kenosia can be a great place to fish from shore and from a boat especially around may june.
Large mouth bass and carp are what I aim for.
Has perch and crappie

East lake, especially when the water level goes down.
Big largemouth bass and smallmouth
Nice size trout as well
Also has perch and crappie

There are plenty of places and around Danbury.

What are you looking to catch?
