After four slightly unsuccessful trips, we have finnaly met our goal of landing a bass thought the ice(about 20" of it.)
Nothing big, but atleast it's a bass. The shiner was set just above the weeds, and it only took about ten minutes for it to get eaten. When I first got a look at the spool, it was spinning like crazy. I guess the cold doesnt effect them here too much.
Right before we were about to leave, we got another flag on the same hole, and at first, it didn't look like there was a fish on. As soon as I lifted the tipup about 1ft out of the hole, the fish took off. It took about 15ft of line in less than two seconds. I have a very good feeling it was a pickerel. _________________ Catch and release only.
A 4lb bass is not going to grow to 8lbs on your wall.
