CT SWEETWATER BASS held its 3rd annual Ice Derby at Highland Lake on Sunday, February 20th 2011. Here's the report and final results:


• Date / Time.................Sunday / 8am - 2 pm / 2-20-11

• Place.......................Highland Lake, Winsted, CT / State Launch

• Weather.....................partly cloudy to bright blue skies / 30 degrees / winds very gusty in morning, died down throughout the day / close to a full moon / approaching front that would drop a few inches of snow later that night


Over 100 participants showed up in what turned out to be a really fun event! This year's winner was Alden F. with a 5.17lb Pickerel. He took home a top prize of $500! Of course, this is just about the only fish we don't have a picture of. Maybe next year we'll have less wind and MAYBE we won't have to compete with the Daytona 500. If that's the case, there's a real good chance at a full field of 150 competitors. Here are the other top winners this year:

Trout were caught...just none of them placed....but I know there are some decent size browns in there!
