Finally got a day off from school and work and hit up Highland with my buddy. Water temp was 44 degrees and I started off with a jerkbait and stayed with a jerkbait, while my buddy threw the shakey head, and a shad rap. My buddy caught a pickerel, and I caught a solid bass at 2 pounds 15 ounces on the countdown

Not a bad way to end my season. Btw I have caught 33 bass this year that have weighed between 2.8 and 3.1 it's like a curse or something. Crying or Very sad Also hit up Winchester for a little bit a few taps on the jig but that was it water temp there was 39-40. Kira where were you today???

Nice fish! Definitely a nice way to close out the warm weather fishing season.

BT,

What kind of jerk bait? Hard plastic suspending, or a softie? Just wondering. I've thrown the hard one a few times this year but not long enough to find out if it would work probably. I need to work on patience with a couple of styles. 39-40 degrees? Man that's downright cold. Nice fish. Always nice when it fills your fist. Good luck with the deer.

Lucky Craft Pointer just hopping it along. The rod I use for hoppin is a 7ft 6 Light Power St. Croix Premier with a citica and 8 pound test its a super light combo. This rod works great for cold water situations. The slow tip allows me to pretty much move the bait in any direction possbile. Being that its a slow tip getting a good hookset is hard, but when you got a good bass on the rod will bend all the way down to the handle trust me I thought it was going to break when I caught my personal best on it. Can't wait to get into the woods Laughing

Sorry Pete, Dinghbat is "away" for the winter and needs repair so I'm either hitching rides, borrowing boats, or confined to land. I can't/won't drive to Highland just to fish from shore. My sleep cycle was pretty messed up from playing so much Black Ops anyway.
I'm ready for ice but not thrilled about ending boating season with a slimedart.

I'm just going to dress appropriately by avoiding cotton & move the party to shore where there's a 10-12 ft drop within casting distance. The fish have been consistently holding 1-2 feet off the bottom in about 10 feet of water. I don't think I'm mentally stable enough to stop fishing for the season without serious repercussions.
