I've always wondered if the "rope" line on tip-ups should be switched to a stronger mono or different braid? Won't you have better luck with a line that's harder for the fish to see??
Ive never changed the line that came with them and I haven't had much luck either. I just know the concept with fair weather fishing is you want the line to blend in. |

Hi!
Stay with the Dacron main line on your tip-up spool.
Use a short strong Mono or Fluro (about 3 ft) between the Dacron and (Wire for Pike) hook.
You have to rig the tip-up to what kind of fish your after.
The Dacron main line will give you a better grip and control.
Mono or Fluro can slip and cause a bad cut in your hand if the fish (of good size) decides to make a hard run
