Went out to Halls Pond today. I thought it was going to be a great day. I was on the water at around noon. I caught 2 small bass (in the 12-13 in. range) within the first 15 mins. Went out between the first two islands straight out from the boat launch. There is a very shallow ridge and I caught them casting parallel to it with a black spinnerbait.

I caught one more further back behind the islands then it stopped. Didn't get another bite after that. After a while I was even hoping for a pickeral, but didn't get anything.
It was much more windy than I expected, but as someone mentioned here before if you go back into the islands it is much more calmer. There are some big stumps back there. Unfortunately not knowing the lake, I was on top of them before I knew they were there, so I may have spooked any fish holding to them.
I was off the water around 3:30, so all of the action was in the first 30-45 min. Nothing after that. [/img] |

Hey, at least you got out on the water and caught something. I spent about seven hours behind the wheel of my car today. Believe me, I would rather have spent 3-1/2 hours on the water catching a couple of small largemouth bass keepers.
What do you paddle? Did you try anchoring anywhere? _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |

I paddle a basic 9 and a half foot kayak. I do anchor around, so back in the islands I would use the anchor and work an area. It was calmer back there, but there was still some wind. |

I was up there two weeks ago when I was up there at my parents weekend house. I caught one largemouth, though nothing to brag about at all. Maybe a pound, if that. I did catch a decent sized pickeral. When I came off the water I talked to some locals that said there were some big bass in there. I didnt have as much time as I would have liked, but saw some spots I want to try out whenever I get up there again, though I doubt it will be before the cold. I dont see myself getting out there in November when I will finally put away the kayak.
