This'll be the shortest report I've ever posted. I hit Spring Pond after both of my kids left the house for their first day of school. I took The Other Woman and pedaled around from 8:00 AM to 11:30 AM. It got hotter and hotter throughout the morning, and the sun blazed in cloudless skies. The wind went from calm to a steady N breeze. The water was cloudy; I could see down to only about 1 foot. I launched from the culvert on the W shore and pedaled around the entire pond. I threw wacky Senkos, my white lipless crankbait, a little white spinnerbait and a little weightless Texas-rigged worm, and got barely a nibble from what felt like only tiny fish. I got skunked for the first time all year at Spring Pond.
After I got off the water, I spent 15 minutes picking up trash from the shoreline around the culvert. Along with the usual food, beverage and smoking related trash, I picked up a lot of discarded fishing line and worm containers. Come on shore fishermen, pick up your trash! _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |
