Hit Bantam from 6:30-10:30 with Jamie. It was overcast and cold(read 50 degrees) most of the day. Water was 68-72 most of the time. I hit an 8lb pike on cast #1 as he chased a fouled crank on top and nailed it when I pulled it under the water. We threw cranks and spinners for a while without much action. Tried a shakey head as well. Nada. Then, we started hitting pike pretty hard on cranks and spinners. Got 6 pike over 5lbs. Bass were hard to come by. I did get a 4 and a 2 on a custom spinnerbait, but that was all.

Encon police came by. He was surprised we had caught anything as most he talked to were struggling.

Later,

B

Yesterday looked like a perfect day for fishing. Has Morris put up a new "Residents Only" sign at the boat launch ramp?

Sounds like a great day out there to me. How many feet of water were the pike in?

Nice job! That many pike in 1 day is a good trip. Did you guys work a particular shoreline or jump around? I'm heading up there in 2 weeks after a couple of years without fishing that lake. I've been spending a lot of time at Mansfield Hollow lately with no success.

Kinda bounced around a bit....You know pike...find the deep weeds, find the pike.

FYI...Launching and loading are tough with the lack of h2o in the lake and the naturally steep ramp....I wound up looking like a moron having to readjust my Ranger 10 times to get it to sit even....Fellas with big boats may have some trouble unless this storm tonight delivers the goods.

I hit Bantam yesterday afternoon for a few hours. Water is clearing up. In the high 60's for the most part. The bite was a bit slower than usual.
I had 2 largies a 13" and 18". I missed a nice one on a spinnerbait, I will guess around 5lbs. It spit my spinnerbait, I think it may have been my first fish I've lose on a spinnerbait. Oh well.

The pike were pretty abundant. Like Brennan said if you find the deep weed line...they are there. ewven caught one by Beverlys in the pads on a senko

The ramp is pretty steep. You are better off to winch up than power load your boat.

There is a new sign posted on the gate it reads

"Town Of Morris"
Use at your own Risk

They also put new "No Parking" signs all the way down on the right side

An amazing thing I have noticed. The state pulls out, takes the trash can and the out house and the place is the cleanest I've seen in years

Probably because less people are using the boat launch due to the suppose restriction to out of towners.
