Got on Bantam at around 7 am. Overcast and a little wind. Water temps 74 ish.
Hit the rocky point first. Started with a black buzz bait..nothin. Switched to a Senko...Nothin!!!! Finally realized I should be throwing a spinnerbait. Second cast....nice fat 3 lber. Pow..next cast a chunky 2 lber. Worked the bank all the way to the beach with nothing to show. Headed back to where I got the two bass...bang right by the boat a 30" pike. Got him in the boat and retied. Worked my way to the rock piles...nothin. Went across to Deer Island, picked up another keeper about a pound and half. Called it and was home for 10:30 or so.

Water level is still really low. Today the water was greener than I have seen all year.

I should have started off with the spinnerbait, the bite seemed much better earlier on.

Launched at the old state ramp

Nice job Stratos. Did anyone say anything to you about using the old state launch being a non-town resident?

Jim

Jim,

There has been no sign of anyone patroling. I'm also there early or late.

I miss that place and I would love to fish it again just that regardless if anyones there when I launch, I'm more concerned about somebody "monitor" showing up after I have already gone out and then what?? Do they ticket your car or what? I'd be an expensive day out if I come back to the launch and find a 50-100 dollar ticket on my windshield.

Went to Bantam recently with a non-resident. No ticket, truck & trailer was parked from about 6am-3pm.

Kira, thanks for your reply on your outting. I may have to take a drive up there again. So how did you do?

The water level was low, was just treated for aquatic nuisances & the pads inaccessible (3 weeks ago.) Should be fine now. I caught some assorted bass...my partner caught a decent smallie under a dock. Nothing exciting being caught by me lately....lots of places are now unsuitable for my boat...it can't take the thick weeds or the water-skiers. My "fishfinder" is useless, so when the fish go to deeper water, I'm on my own (pads pads pads.) Accepting invitations; have references. Smile
