Took a hike down to Amos today. We could have been on the water before 7 but the launch sucked so that put us behind a little. We fished from 7-11. Two bites. Zero landed. Extremely tough day. My brother hooked up with both fish on green pumpkin stalker jigs(he wanted to try them after I landed a few fish on them at Morey while everyone else got skunked ). Just to the right of the launch I watch him lift up his rod and the fish starts peeling drag like crazy but comes off after a few seconds. On the opposite bank, he hooks into another one that peels off more drag and probably almost broke the pole. Then it snapped the line . I've seen 4-5lbrs fight and just from the few seconds I saw from the fights these fish were well over 5lbs. After that we got out of there and decided to find another spot.
We thought about Long Pond, but decided it was too over fished with tournaments this time of year so we went to Wyassup. We heard there's lots of fish, but not many big ones. They were right. Within two hours, we landed 13 fish, 12 LMB and one slime dart. Lunker went 1.5lbs and the rest were 8"-12". All of them were caught on shakey heads with various worms. Not too exciting, but it was fun. _________________ Catch and release only.
A 4lb bass is not going to grow to 8lbs on your wall.
