Just got back from Winni. Had a blast! The fish were off the beds for the most part. Still a few straglers but no where near years past for this time of year.
We still caught tons of fish!! Senkos, grubs, tubes, crankbaits, spinnerbaits
Two of us in the boat would catch between 40-60 bass. Most smallmouth and some nice largemouth too.
Biggest smallmouth...close to 4lbs.
Biggest Largemouth 6.25lbs. Nice one!
The weather was crazy...from hot to cold, from still to 30 mph gusts
Plenty of coves to duck into, but the big water was trecherous and scarey!
The Stratos was flawless, ran the hell out of it went thru 50 gal of fuel!
Had an issue with the Minnkota though. Had to replace the upper bearing.
Not sure how it happened. Had an extra one with me.
My buddy had an issue with his Ficht too. This was unbelievable, the marina was open on a Sunday. Not only did they talk me through a diag process they did it after hours and they were right on the money and helped me to fix it!!!
Shep Brown Marina in Meredith great guys!!!
Sorry, no pics yet. I'll try to get some up by Monday
Water temps ... From Sunday High 60's like 68-70
Today not even 60 like 58 ish |

Stratos, sounds like you guys had a great day out on Winni.......fishing wise! Always a pain in the ass when minor repairs are needed while on a fishing trip.

Nice job Stratos, every body of water it seems was 2 or 3 weeks earlier for spawning this year due to early spring warm ups and crazy hot days in March and April. We too found fish all over the place, it was actually almost more fun catching actively feeding roamers and some fish on beds still in the last week of May.
Too bad about the motor troubles, but you really lucked out on a Sunday. _________________ Life's Short - Fish Hard - Take a Kid Fishing |
