Went from 1 pm to after dark. The water was choppy at times, but I did find a sandy cove to dock in so I fished from shore for a while.
Caught 2 bass early on...1 on a torpedo and the other on a brownish 3" Powerbait twin tail grub with a jig head. Nothing spectacular, but better than the 4" bass I usually catch there. Caught a yellow perch with the torpedo when I was back near the launch much later.
Apparently, fishing at night is perfectly fine at Batterson. However, the police will make you leave if you're just sitting in a car/not fishing. After dark, a cruiser came through the lot while I was still in the water, but near the launch. There were 2 vehicles in the lot - my (empty) truck and a car with people in it. The cop shined the spotlight in their car and said, "You're LEAVING now, RIGHT?" They left. Then he found me on the water with the light and asked me if the truck was mine. I said "yup" and he said "HAPPY FISHING!" (Awesome.)
Maybe this link will work...it's not worth downloading, resizing, and uploading.

Gravel? More like rocks and chunks of broken ramp. But yeah...the place that allegedly has walleye. _________________ Kira

Why must it be a Saturday? LETS GO NOW. I took today off due to rain and now I'm having withdrawals. You know how to reach me. _________________ Kira

LOL OK.. same place.
Yes there are walleyes in there. Ive never caught a big one, but there are a few in there.
Fish the deep edge of the sunken island with a jig, or the steep drops with a bass jig/trailer. Ive caught most of my walleye from there going for bass. |

I just learned of this sunken island Saturday as I was crossing to the other side. I noticed my depth gauge said 5 feet and I could see the plants beneath the surface. The water was choppy though...so I didn't know what to make of it. How big is this sunken island? _________________ Kira

Where that beach/old camp is from the roped off swimming area to the island is a great spot for walleyes in the evening. I've caught many over there nothing bigger than 16 inches though. Also if the wind is dead calm the weeds come right up to the surface to the left and I've caught some bass on poppers above the weeds. |
