I'm from Charlotte NC and come up every year to fish Candlewood with my Dad. He grew up on the lake and I used to spend every summer there as a kid, and he and I have been coming up from the Carolinas every year for the past 25 years to revisit our favorite lake. We typically come up for a week and finish by fishing the Brian Kerchal Memorial tournament every year.
Last year the water temps hit 61 by the time we left - way warmer than we typically get....wondering how it is up there right now. We come up on the 21st and I've been checking this board and haven't seen any reports. Anybody know anything?
Thanks - I have been reading this board for 4 years without being a member, thought I would finally sign up.

TT...I am betting you will see the 60's before you leave to fish the kerchal....Guys were hammering them on jerkbaits before the close this year....way earlier than last year..

Thanks for the responses
Yeah, that's what I figured. The jerkbait bite has been slow for the past 2-3 years by the time I get up there, which sucks. I'm a huge smallmouth fan and I hate missing that first spring bite. Guess I'll be hunting largemouth in the tournament.
When did it close and when does it open again? |

Hmmm.....didn't know that. We're thinking of starting to move our trips up a few weeks so we can catch the cooler weather like we used to...Guess I'd have to come prior to April 1 to make that work. That's risky - I know the minute we plan to do that, there will be a giant snowstorm the last week in March |
