Went to silver in berlin today. About 3 inches were I was fishing solid black ice people to the left of the boat ramp said they had 4-5 inches there. Caught 4 good size pickerel 2 small bass and a small catfish had a good day. Thinest iced Ive ever fished on but it was solid no problems. Next weekend everything should be solid after this cold week and cold nights. |

two buddies of mine were out on silver on sat, i went out to see how they were doing...good bite while i was there, several bass, a big perch, and a few pickeral. not sure how they did when i wasn't there. ice was solid but the level changed in spots...some places were only about 3" thick.
i may go out there in the morning monday, but potentially i may be at another location.
i have a feeling i'll run into you on silver one of these times, you seem to go there as often as i do! _________________ Keep 'em hooked and get 'em in the boat! |

Hey there. Went again Ice was better, about 5" the middle of the lake has this giant area where there is still ice, but then like a second ice layer on top which is weak. This area is obvious from shore even. Be careful out there regardless!
Slower day. My friend and I fished from...I dunno 10am to 3pm. Several quick tip ups while we were setting up, kept missing the fish!! Then it slowed down quite a bit with sporadic tip ups here and there.
My buddy got skunked for the first time this year. I hooked into four fish: 2 bass, one about 2lbs; a pickeral, and a smaller sized catfish.
The catfish story is good: Was taking down the tip ups, and saw one bouncing all around. The flag was still down so I went to see what was going on...the reel was in the same spot but the whole tip up was going nuts (flag down). So, I just grabbed the thing and pulled it straight up through the thin layer of ice that formed covering the hole. Ended up setting the hook and pulled in the catfish Nice way to end the day.
Why wasn't the flag tripped or the reel spinning?? Because I wrapped the line around the reel in the wrong direction!!!
Good luck out there, see you at the derby if you go! I'll be the one wearing a video camera on my hat. _________________ Keep 'em hooked and get 'em in the boat! |

Tge only reason im paying for him is because i want to do the tournament but i cant be enter on my own as i am not 16 (i think thats a bunch a BS ) but anyways, hope to see you out there. P.S. Austin-
I hope to see you and your dad out there and catching fish (just not bigger than any I catch, haha ). There was a little bit of snow on the ice when I was last there Monday...not sure how it will be by Sat morning. It snowed maybe an inch around Berlin last night so my guess is that unless we get more snow there may be around a half inch or so of snow on top of the ice.
I'm psyched for the tourny, I'm gonna rig up an old childrens sled I found in my attic and make it into an ice fishing sled...this will be my project tomorrow.
Have a good one.

Thanks, I'm looking foward to seeing everyone out there, depending on how much snow there is i may have my clam 6800 out there with me (so you will know where to find the winners ) but that thing is such a pain to pull through snow. _________________ I'd Rather be fishin' :ifishing |
