I went to Congamond today early A.M.! I had heard bad reports of unsafe ice however that was not the case. THe fist foot off shore was a little slushy but the ice was still black! A VERY GOOD SIGN! there was no WHITE ice and no honeycombing! I still drilled a solid 8" of black ice and i am sure with the next 4 days of below freezing temps we still have some time to fish! So i will check in with futher reports of local areas! |

Just chiseled 3" off my 20 gallon minnow tank. There was none this morning. Heading out to Huntington State Park in Redding tomorrow for some hard water fishing

Haven't hardwater fished it in a few years but do pretty good on trout and bass from my canoe. Last time I fished it thru the ice me and my partner limited out on trout in about 3 hours if I remember right.

My fishing partner went out in search of good ice, he may have found one place 
Its going to be too cold for me tomorrow but, I was thinking about heading on sunday or monday.

Please make a post about the ice condition and how you made out fish wise @ Huntington.
If the ice is good and the fishing turns out ok I will probably head out there.
I wanted to try Putnum perk that place is filled with pickerel and some decent bass

Whats up PHS thought ice fishing was prohibited at Putnam let me know.I also know there are some crappie in there too!! |

| Hit it once it was cold no flags in 4 hours so not so good but i would like to try again i have caught a few largemouth from shore over the summer. |

| went to silver lake in berlin to check it out today. Only open water was at outflow mostly snow covered. no one was out there someon drilled some test holes off the boat ramp. looked like 3 inches maybe. |

i found ice on a small acre or two pond
It was pretty much 2inches of mix black and "cloudy" ice.
Fisher before the ice fishing season is open if you would like to go or have plans to go let me know.

Fished HSP from before sunrise till dark. Fished from 6' out to 28', no trout or bass. 6 pickerel all day, biggest was 4.5 lbs. 4" solid black ice except where the bridges are. Had the entire place to myself. Temp was a balmy 4 with a light breeze, had to put a jacket on in the afternoon when it clouded up.
