Went with my buddy Eric on his boat out to Colebrook Lake. It was the first time either of us had fished there so the day was mostly exploration of sites. Deep ass lake! 120 ft was the deepest the depth finder we had showed.

Started off casting around a rocky point and started getting bites on silver colored rattler baits. I missed 3, each hit hard and one almost got in the boat but spit the hook b4 I could get 'em in. My buddy got two relatively quickly including our biggest fish of the day which was only about 1.5 lbs.

Then we moved past the dam and into a little cove. It was cold and windy as the wind ripped over the "mountains" surrounding the lake. Got two very tiny smallies on a silver Blue Fox.

Then we cruised around for a while hitting various spots with no luck including one area which looked like a sandbar near some odd road that seemed to end in the lake. Then went down to where the stream/river starts and I got a nice hit but couldn't hook the bugger. Kept fishing a few other spots but without luck. Tried trolling for a minute but no luck. Tried deeper diving crank baits with no luck. Not sure where the fish were hiding.

Got on the water at 7:30am and fished til about 1:30pm. Beautiful day, skies were blue and sun was out but it wasn't too hot. No idea the H20 temp. The bite could have been better but the day was excellent. Saw another Eagle flying around...love it.

that is a typical colebrook report. not to discourage you from that place but you will never go there an "kill it". a good day there is a dozen 12" smallies.
you get lucky now and then and hook a good one. saw a few over 5lbs out of there. i personally think colebrook fish's its best in october and november.
you need to see that place drained! then you will understand that there are 2 million spots they could be hiding in. nice place but the fishing is and can be tough. nice report and keep at it.

Typical.....as hoppy mentioned. I have caught some big ones out of there, but they are tough to come by. I agree with hoppy either early spring or fall.
