Went to Lower Bolton with my daughter (7) son (9) and his friend (10) Sunday early evening. We floated in my Lund casting a variety of lures in 9 - 11 feet of water to the left of the boat ramp. We did well. About 10 - 12 bass from 10" to 14" mostly on Senkos. When I did manage to cast I did catch a few on a white spinnerbait. They hit the spinnerbait on the drop.

Great job on getting the kids out!
Guys who are new to bass fishing...take note of the simplicity of the last sentence but one that contains a wealth of knowledge and experience of bass behavior. "They hit the spinnerbait on the drop". In bass fishing this is called a reaction bite. As the spinnerbait helocopters past the fish, they just pounce on it. No smelling it or picking it up and dropping it, just bam and the fight is on.
Not to sound like a know it all, cause I would probably get my hat handed to me by a majority of the fisherman on this site, but when these posts come up, ask the person the what and why questions and I promise you that what it took most guys years to learn, you will capture in a very small amount of time.
Soap box to the side and we return you to your normally scheduled programming.

I appreciate you pointing that out...I would have overlooked that.

Way to get the kids out Pauleye. It's a nice quiet place to do just that, with plenty of 1 to 1.5lbers to keep them interested.
