Caught a bit of spring fever yesterday... decided to go play at the small pond by my place after work. I wasn't expecting much and now I regret not having any sort of camera with me! I need to start carrying a scale too..
I was fishing for no more than a hour and landed 4 bass on senkos. 3 of which were seriously chunky and had to have been 3-4 lbers. I'm sure one of those was probably my personal best, but it doesn't count since I had no means of documentation.. grr!
Anyway was fun little session, beautiful day, and lesson learned about the camera.... I guess ya never know whats gonna happen! |

Great time to hit up all of the small ponds. Dont under estimate what they can hold in them. Nice work! |

Fishlou way to go! Care to give the name of the pond? If not no worries. Lived in New Britain for a long time. I hope it wasn't the resevoir. _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!

It's the small pond near Batterson. I'm there all the time as it's walking distance from my place. |

Hmmmm. My guess would be Stanley Quarter Park. Missed a few good ones there over the years. _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!

Yeah AW Stanley is the only one I can think of. I've seen a small pond from the highway near the DOT in Farmington, but can't figure out how to get there.I have heard of some big bass coming out of AW,but I would have to see it to believe it. I also hear Farmington Res off rt6 is good, but it's a big place _________________ Yankees are like snitches...a dying breed |

Heavyweight, I have caught some nice ones at AW over the years in my younger days "before I had enough foresight" to start bringing a camera with me. That place is soooo bassy looking yet there is very limited shore access there because of the trees and the shrubs along the shore. Plus you can't put a canoe in there because of the signs posted "No Boats". I've been to the Farmington res off of Rt 6. That place is also pretty good there. Nearly crapped in my shorts one time when my buddy and I felt something hit the bottom of the canoe and when we both looked in the water to see what it was, it was a snapping turtle with a shell the size of a manhole cover!

It wouldn't be tow small ponds behind the first couple building where Batterson Rd and Fienneman Rd meet is it? _________________ Yankees are like snitches...a dying breed |

If you want to see big snappers,go to North Farms Res in Wallingford. I'll tell you creepy is when you're out on a boat and you a shell 4ft long swimming by you. I'll tell you where I've caught real good bass is Hunters Golf Course in Meriden. The manager there is a dick, but there's some hogs in there. I've 9 and 10lbers caught back to back. _________________ Yankees are like snitches...a dying breed |

Yeah, but like I said it was at a golf course with a 4lb average. The only problem is watching out for golfers and snitches. But it is a public course so screw them. _________________ Yankees are like snitches...a dying breed |

Heavyweight, I have been to North Farms and have caught some decent ones there. Just really don't like that pond because I have to step into the water to launch my boat and if you've seen the amount of geese poop there, you really get that "dirty" feeling the whole time you're fishing and the only thing your thinking about is getting home and taking a shower!

I know it. Fortunately for I have no boat but still have to worry about turds. I like watching the ducks swim at North Farms in the summer and seeing them getting sucked under by the snappers. I think if i was a little less heavy I could walk on the pads there seeing how thick they get _________________ Yankees are like snitches...a dying breed |

Considering that whole place is just about 3-5 feet deep you could probably wade in there with waders on if you don't sink in the muck. On the other hand with the snappers in there I don't think that would be a good idea. _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!
