Hey guys, this is my first post. I'll try not 2 ask 2 many stupid ?'s but I am just getting started @ bass fishing. I have been boating now 4 a couple years and find myself much more into fishing than speeding around. My father and I love going 4 bass but are very new to the game. Ive had luck w/ these gary yamato worms but would like to figure out which lures are atractive 4 bass. I understand that season, temp., location, and many other factors play an important role in choosing bait. I guess I'm just looking 4 a push in the right direction. If there may be an all around good lure and color to go with I would apreciate any tips that would bring a bit more exitement 2 a fishing trip. I have been going mostly to Rainbow Resivior and Congamond if that helps with any tips anyone may have 4 me. I greatly apreciate any info and look forward 2 learning more about this newfound pasion 4 bass fishing.

Welcome.I would suggest the following baits...a small jig in black and blue (1/4 oz) with a black trailer,a white/chartruese spinnerbait in 3/8oz,senko in green pumpkin 5inch,and a smoke 4 or 5 inch grub and a lite jig head.
Good luck.
Johnny

Welcome aboard New Guy, I have to agree with Hoppy, Johnny doesn't know squat. He has more luck than skill, when it comes to catching fish. LOL

I still love ya Johnny!

New Guy, one bait I throw almost all the time is a tube, 4 inch in smoke, green- pumpkin, black neon, or watermelon black or red flake. Another bait Johnny didn't mention, and doesn't throw much, and has had much recent success by many anglers when the bite is tough, is the drop shot rig. If you aren't sure what that is, Pm me and I'll explain it in detail. There are some older posts that have a link to how to tie a drop shot rig as well, and what style worm to use with it.

Ditto on the dropshotting! Here is probably the best info on that subject (make sure to open the links within the article..):

(ps: Those guys are friends of Johnny's and are just trying to give him a hard time,...he is an excellent fisherman and all his suggestions are good ones! Wink )

welcome to the forum. you picked a great site for info. these guys are always willing to share their knowledge. i myself are only into the sport for the last few years but the guys here nailed it with your basic baits. i myself always have tied on:

depending on sky conditions, time of day and temps i have

early morning or overcast: buzzbait, spinnerbait, popper of somekind. senko and a weighted worm.

midday: senko, dropshot, weighted worm, deeper crank 6' plus and a flipping bait ( wich is a story by itself)
