Hey thanx again 4 the tips guys. 2day my father and I did pretty well @ Rainbow res. I had great luck with a watermelon tube (thanx slimecoat) cathing a half dozen smallmouth on that (2 of which measuring 15").

I got a couple hits on a drop shot w/ a black worm but couldn't quite hook any. I'm pretty sure I set it up right thanx 2 a very detailed video.(thanx Just4fun) I just don't think I I'm using it properly. I cast it out and reel in slowly, ocasionally stoping and jiggling the line as an attempt 2 simulate a live bait. I'll continue 2 try new things w/ it though as well as trying other baits that you guys have recomended.

anyone else have any luck @ rainbow or occasionally fish there ?

Most of the time,..the less that you move a dropshot bait, the more fish you will catch! Here's my step-by-step formula for dropshotting:
1) Cast it out
2) Let it fall to the bottom on a slack line,..watch the line though as the bait is falling for any twitches or sideways movement!
3) Let the bait sit still on the bottom for 2 or 3 seconds. (still on a slack line)
4) Very gently,..slowly raise the bait up off the bottom until you feel a fish or the weight.
5) If you do not feel a fish give it 1 or 2 small (repeat,..SMALL) twitches.
6) If it is a very likely spot that you know holds fish,..I would let the line go slack and repeat the sequence a few more times,..otherwise just reel it up and cast it out somewhere else! If you are fishing in relatively clear water fish will be able to see the bait falling from quite a distance, and they will come over to investigate,....you don't need to move the bait,...they will know it's there!! Your job is to NOT scare them off with a lot of extra movement!!

Generally the smaller that the fish is,..the sharper that the bite feels and often they will take the bait and pull it away pretty fast (because usually there will be other small fish there too!). Any decent sized bass will just come over and slurp it up and either sit still while it figures out whether to swallow it,..or just mosey on off with it! Usually bass do NOT spit it out unless they feel you twitching the line!!
If you feel a tap or something tugs at the bait and then drops it in a foot or so,..it will be a bluegill or other small fish! Wait for something to grab it and hold onto it,..THAT will be a bass!

Hope that helps you some! Cool
