Hit Bashan on Saturday with DaveVa.
Weather was clear a bit chilly on the water with a steady wind.
Air temps began in the upper 50's and climbed to the upper 60's which was warm once we got off the water and wind.
Water temp was high 50's (57-59).
Saw some empty beds (no doubt smallies).
Largemoouth were around beds but didn't appear to be on them.
Wind was around 20 mph forming white caps at times.
Fished from 6:30 to 11:30.
Dave had two on spinnerbaits.
I only landed one on a drop shot, had two spit the hook (drop shot).
Spinnerbait fish came off wind blown shore locations and very shallow.
Drop shot on point banks in about 11'.
Last day at AT&T Tuesday then I've got the rest of the week off before I begin an intensive 8 week teacher preparation program. I plan on being back up on the lake with my wife midweek and who know where else the other days.
Looking forward to some extended fishing trips!

It was a weird day for Bashan. It usually doesn't give up many big fish, but I've never caught as many shorts as usual. Also the spots I liked to fish before were pretty empty. Things should be better in a few weeks.
Have fun this week. |
