I aint never goin there again. What a whooper of a time i had launching and loading the boat by myself. I couldnt even pull the boat close enough to the shore to jump to it without getting wet! Same thing when i came in. Had to make a jump for it and couldnt make it
I even have a routeen for landing the boat close to shore. It wouldnt work it was so shallow. Usualy i get moving and just about shallow and close enough, i lift the trolling motor and run to the back of the boat. Didnt help today!! Had to put the jeep in the muck pretty good. Almost to the front doors
Well, whatever. Started with a jerk bait and got stuck a few times. So i moved over to a super fluke and went towards the back on the western shore a cast worth away. NOTHING !!
Got around to the DEEP DEEP back area, NOTHING. Came back closer to the rear of the island and decided to go with a jig. Started at it with a brand new rod and my first experience with flourocarbon. 20 lb cabelas brand! Stuff is amazing, though it seems like im using some ship docking line LOL
Was throwing to sticks and stuff sticking up outta the water and within half hour, i get bit!
Didnt weigh it but seemed over 2, not confident it went 3, but who knows. A good leason with the new rod and line.
Few minutes later, my trailer got a leg removed! Then i "think" i missed a fish.
Moved to the front of the island and tried where i saw a huge splash 10 minutes ago. Nothing bitting. Ok, ill run it over and hope i see something. Better than nothing. Sure enough, i get right where it splashed and i spook this huge carp. It has to be a 15 lb'er !!
Went most of the rest of the day tossing to stuff, casting to stuff with nothing much to show. Moved to the road side, western corner and saw a couple carp (maybe 5's) doing a fly by.
It was about 1pm and getting close to packing it in. I was pitching to all the stuff and finaly hooked another.
Yay Maybe a pound
I was sooooooooo dreading loading the boat. There were cars parked around all day long and i knew it was going to be hairy.
Sure enough, it was hairy as heck. See ya!!! I wont be back !!
Water temps were as low as 53 and got as high as 57. Sunny day means a little neck burn _________________ Thar aint NO fish in here !!!!!!!!

Nice fish,..at least you caught something for all the hassles. If you think it's bad now,..launching is even better in the summer!! Same shallow ramp except then it's overrun with weeds and geese and "stuff" from the geese!!
I made the mistake of wading out to my boat to put it back on the trailer one time and I felt so gross and diseased that i had to go find a minimart just to buy a gallon of water to rinse myself off!!
If you carry a pair of hip-boots with you for the launching and trailering,..then it's not too bad except the boat and trailer will still be coated with slime and in need of a good scrubbing.
I'd never give it another thought except that the place DOES hold some very nice fish that are not very pressured,...so unfortunately i will still have to try it once or twice this year again! _________________ "If people concentrated more on the really important things in life there'd be a shortage of fishing poles."

ooooooooooooooh, the geese ARE there. Must be 30 of them!!
They stayed away from me for the most part. Lucky for them, cause i dont wanna break out a can of whup azz
I had such a hard time getting the boat off what bank there was, i clogged up my motors pee hole
The water seemed low. With all the rain, it looked like it should have been higher by maybe a foot. _________________ Thar aint NO fish in here !!!!!!!! |

lol, I got out of work at 2 and drove to NFR. I got there around 3. I checked out the conditions and the launch and left. It was pretty windy and I didn't have an anchor so I split.
I enjoy being out on the water just as much as I enjoy fishing so I prefer more secluded lakes - that place didn't interest me at all. I went and fished silver instead.
Rook at least you caught something for all your troubles. Way to go _________________ Sorry honey, looks like we will be late again due to motor problems.

Well at least you got a couple for your troubles. That place does hold some nice fish but is really a hassle to put a "big" boat in there that's why I go there with a bass tender 10 footer. In the summer that place is soooo weeded over you really need a push pole because your trolling motor won't cut it. _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!
