My bass fishing club, Empty Lake Bassmasters, held its first tournament of the year at Long Pond in Ledyard on Sunday. Other than a steady 10 mile per hour wind out of the north, it was a beautiful day. We fished from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. My tourney partner, rmflint (aka Ryan), and I had a Good News, Bad News kind of day.
The Good News: We came in Third Place.
The Bad News: There were only five boats competing, we tied for Third Place with two other boats and we got skunked, well, for bass, anyway.
We tried throwing just about everything just about everywhere and obviously threw the wrong things in the wrong places at the wrong times. We each caught two chain pickerel, so we had a little bit of excitement until we realized they weren’t bass, but, otherwise, it was a pretty frustrating day.
Hopefully, I’ll have something better to report after the next tourney. _________________ Don't forget to wear sunscreen and don't litter! |
