Tuesday I hit Mondo Ponds arriving around 3pm. The main pond was almost completely open. The smaller pond had more skim ice compared to last time, but the upper edge was open.
I hit numerous spots as I stuck with the Helsinki shad HJ-6.
One spot was where I got into a school of crappie, resulting in 5 all around 8".
Another spot produced a chunky 7" bluegill and a chunky 9" yellow.
This Arctic High arriving will have both ponds locked solid again and air will be very cold, which means I won't be fishing the next 2 days I have off from work and it might take a while for the water to open back up after this weekend depending on sun strength, air temps, wind, and precipitation type. |

I'm going to hit Mondo tomorrow around mid-morning to mid-afternoon. Hopefully the ice hasn't locked up the whole place. I'm specifically chasing crappie as I've never caught one.
Any recommendations? |
