With the recent mild temps, strong sun, and moist air, I checked out Mondo Ponds Friday, arriving around 10am.
The main pond had a nice stretch of open water in the upper part of the pond, with shoreline ice being that very weak gray and other ice being 1 to 2 inches of solid white. The smaller pond had a good amount of open water along the upper shore, with the rest of the pond being the very weak gray ice.
I spent time in the open water throwing Husky Jerks, X-Raps, and chatterbait jigs. Lost a yellow on a glass purple sunfire HJ-6 and had bluegills following a yellow perch HJ-6 in 1 area.
Hit the road just after 3pm.
Tonight into Saturday night will be temps and wind flow keeping things the way they are or also forming ice. But come Sunday and next week will mean the ice is gone! |
