I've seen guys down on Lake Housatonic with boats with platforms in front up high. There are carp in here as big as BUICKS. Only kidding but I snagged one with a rattletrap once by the tail it almost pulled my pole out of my hand. To some I guess there OK; I have trouble with how ugly they are (they probably aren't that thrilled the way I look though) |

Carp you say. I was down in Hamburg Cove couple weekends ago in search of stripers and there were carp everywhere!! They were jumping out of the water chasing food, mating, or whatever they were doing just to spite me because I was looking for stripers but there were so many I swear I could have stepped out of my boat and walked to the shore and never touched water!!! Now maybe I should have targeted them. Have no idea what carp would bite but they were there. _________________ Eat, Sleep, Fish......I Love my SKEETER ZX225!!!

i've fished for them before. their a blast, go back and use corn on a bobber or on the bottem or worms. If that doesn't work they might be grass carp whitch are a little harder to catch because they only eat grass and leaves but they make flies to look like flower peddels or leaves so try them because a 25lb carp on a fly rod = big fun. |

I used to catch carp as a Kid in the Quinnipiac river in Yalesville using bread balls. I caught so many my father called me captain carp. I must have caught a 100. For a 13 year old, they were fun. We always threw them back in. And yes, they were beaten by the ugly stick. |

Bringing this one back from dead.....
By far my favorite fish to hook.
Just using Corn on the hook/chumming and it has produced the best fights and the biggest fish.
I will warn you, once you start, fishing for anything else is just boring.
Pulled out 32" /20lbs + carp few months back. Last week, our 20lbs braid broke 8+ times.....and few times it did break I've never seen my rod bend the way it did.
There is some monsters out there waiting to be caught!
The best part, not many people fish for them!!! |

Yep, when you have "lack of interest" + biggest fish in fresh water....it makes for lots of fun.
I mainly fish for Carp, other game fish is simply pesky in comparison and just not as desirable.
I like to Pike fish as well, but truth be told......Pike are plentyful in few areas on CT.Good news is, people avoid those as much as Carp.
Gain, to me that's an opportunity/appeal. But I always go against the herd anyways. |
