three weeks ago i picked up a late 70's montauk setup that was 30 minutes from being thrown in a dumpster.a bunch of PENN fishing rods and reels had been stored in the rafters of a garage for close to 40 years!!
this setup has a first gen PENN 704spinfisher(the "GREENIE") and a one piece 9.5ft "the royal family" surf rod..... made by the MONTAGUE company
both rod and reel are in great shape
you guys think that rod is still good to go???
there's one post about a 60's carp rod(i think) being refurbished...but a 40 yr old surf rod!?!?!?
it's very tempting..id love to fish with the setup! but i'd sure hate to break the rod
