| Hi folks, if you belong to a club, fresh or salt water, and are looking for a fun way to spend an October weekend while benefitting charity the 21st Annual Surf Fishing Club Challenge to benefit MS research will be Oct. 17th-19th. Clubs pay a $75 entry/donation and any or all their members can participate. It runs from Friday evening at 6pm until 8am on Sunday morning. An awards breakfast with a raffle is held at the Andrea Restaurant in Misquamicut following the final weigh-in. Total weight of each clubs three largest stripers and blues decides the Kings of the Surf for 2014. Boundaries are the Narrow River in Narragansett to Napatree Pt. in Watch Hill. This is a shore fishing only contest and minimum size for stripers is 32".There are usually ten or so clubs signed up but we'd like to see more. | R.I.M.S. took top honors and The Hartford Surf Fishing Club took second. Largest striper was 46.7 lbs from the Weekapaug Point area. Nice fish from the sand! Still some quality fish around so get down before the fat lady sings! |
