That's a heluva sunnie, but I think the ice thickness is even more impressive. Really lovin the POLAR VORTEX!!!! We r makin some good ice now. Not too happy though with the supposed rain storm this saturday Lookin to do a river trip this weekend but rain might mess up the coves. Fingers crossed for not too much rain!!! |

I pretty much was saying the same thing when I seen the pics
This is my buddies catch / pics
He went out to try a few places.
i told him once you catch a fish give me a call and let me know what you caught / how the ice is.
So he called and said a caught a big sunny its basically the size of my hand, the length of the gap between my auger spiral and the ice is thick as f$%^. Its x amount of inches (i forget what he said 8 or more.
I am sure if I was there I would have probably been evenly impressed with the sunny and the depth of the ice.
I am thinking this place was already pretty solid before the rain.
The rain may have melted away a couple of inches
Flooded the top of the ice
Then froze solid to the black ice that was originally there.
If mother nature allows us to keep 3,4 inches of ice after the rain storm we should be okay. Depending on where in CT you live, the lows are still around freezing.
SEND ME THOSE PICS
Whether any of you believe me or not. Ice melts and Ice freezes at two different temperatures _________________
