Wednesday was the first day of the return of afternoon high and outgoing tides so seeing it was supposed to be a nice day out, I hit the boat ramp starting just before noon. High was scheduled for 12:38pm.
As I casted for a half hour, I never got a single hit. Seeing it was right around peak high I headed over to the jetty.
I never got a single hit in the usual spots along the jetty.
Went back to the boat ramp and continued fishing til about 5pm. Things picked up slightly on the outgoing around sunset but didn't last too long.
Total was 3 schoolies in the upper teens and had 4 hits.
All I kept on saying was, "this is riDICulous!", after having so many other days where I'd catch more than 5 and have more action while not putting as much time in. Wednesday had to have been the worst day I've had this fall as for action and time put in.
Something is telling me that the stripers knew Sunday was the last day of the season when weather and astronomical conditions were perfect. Thursday is the only day it's supposed to get above 50 and stay above 30 overnight before another arctic front moves through this weekend bringing very cold temps. |
