After keeping an eye on the Bridgeport Harbor buoy and looking at the NWS marine pinpoint forecast, I decided to brave the cold and head down to the boat ramp. Winds were supposed to die down throughout the rest of the afternoon and into the evening.
Got to the ramp around 2:30pm and winds ranged from the west to the north at 5 to 10 mph with occasional 12 to 15 mph gusts.
I stuck with a purpledescent FLR-10 throughout the day which produced 7 schoolies and lost 4. Didn't have tons of hits like it has been.
Whenever I'd be into the fish, I'd smell raw clams. Fish also seemed to be in smaller schools and there'd be 1 or 2 here and there.
Hit the road around 5:15pm |

Great jog catching them!
May be you can also try some large tidal rivers, they will hold schoolies in big numbers through out the winter.
Raw clams?
Why is that?
I've heard people say some spot "smells fishy", thought it was just an expression... |
