High tide for Black Rock was scheduled for 12:01pm Tuesday and arrived at the parking lot just as the tide was starting to turn. This time I was prepared for the winds and waters with my waders, heavier lures, and the setup being 8' Daiwa Emcast/Penn Pursuit 5000/17lb Sufix Tritanium Plus.
Hit a number of areas along the jetty as tide kept going out. While the tide was still high, 2 lures the schoolies were showing interest in were pearl grey shiner FLR-16 and blue back herring Long Cast Minnow LC-12. Lost 2 and had a few hits on the LC-12 and landed 2 with the FLR-16.
Once the tide got lower is when I started wading out there. Bird life wasn't too active this time. The FLR-16 landed me 2 more schoolies before it was time for topwater. The topwater lure that the schoolies were most interested in was a bone chartreuse XRW-13 as I worked it like a pencil popper. Most fish I landed had the rear teaser tail hook in their mouth.
Total landed was about 10 with the biggest fish being a chunky 18" schoolie.
Hit the road around 5:15pm |
