Headed out of stratford on sunday just around high tide at 730. First time back at this area in like a month. Quite a few boats out there. I guess there was a striper tourney. Anyone in that and how did you do? Started at the ramp with T&W. started marking fish by condos. picked up a schoolie. pretty loaded there with fish so we stayed for a while casting and T&W. picked up about 20 schoolies. Too bad no bigger fish there.
Decided to head out for bigger fish so we went to deep water. Quite a few boats there. I had 4 nice run offs. Only briefly hooked one. The other guys didnt get touched. I assume they were stripers and because they had bluefish rigs on with wire leaders while I had a striper rig with a fishfinder setup.
Headed to charles island after after for some porgies but not much going on by the island. Just a couple small fish not what I would expect. Headed to milford harbor to see if anything but dead. Then headed out by the point where the mansion is and picked up some short porgies and almost keeper seabass. Had to head in around 2 so we headed back to the river and still marked fish so we got 5 or so more schoolies on the way back in and called it a day.
Still disapointing for this time of year but the schoolies were fun. Cannot believe the lack of bluefish. |
