High tide for Black Rock was scheduled for 4:11pm Wednesday and got to the Fayerweather jetty 2 hours before high. Setup was a new 7' Okuma Tarvos rigged with a Pursuit 3000 and 10 pound Tritanium. Conditions were a steady 8 to 12mph wind ranging from the southwest to the northwest before becoming north later in the afternoon.
Lures I played with included silver shad Jointed Shallow Shad Rap, original pearl shad Flat Rap FLR-10, chrome Skitter Pop SP-9, shad Shallow Shad Rap SSR-9, and olive green Clackin Minnow CNM-9.
Lost a sea robin right in front of me on the JSSR-7 and next cast got the lure snagged on a rock.
Got out to Fayerweather Island where I played with the FLR-10 and SP-9. Caught 2 sea robins with the FLR-10.
It was almost peak high while I was out at Fayerweather so I headed back onto the jetty by where I lost the sea robin and caught 3 sea robins with the CNM-9.
Headed over to the boat ramp but nothing there.
By 5:30pm I was at Breezy Point. One of my usual spots was taken so I fished for a bit at another spot with no luck.
After talking with a local buddy down there, I hit Remington for the rest of the evening and into dark. Caught a snarbor with the CNM-9 and a small schoolie with a blue sardine Saltwater X-Rap SXR-10. Was seeing what was probably the smaller schoolies chasing silversides along shore inside the discharge after sunset.
Hit the road around 8:30pm |

Yep
Bluefish in the 1 to 2 pound range are called snarbors. Average length is 10 to 14 inches. |
