Stayed up overnight Thursday to hit the morning incoming at Seaside Park. Arrived at Breezy Point around 5:30am.
Started by throwing an original pearl shad Flat Rap FLR-10 to see if any blues or stripers would hit before sunrise but never got into anything.
Once the sun rose, it was sea robin time with the Clackin Minnows.
Before high tide, I caught 6 sea robins and a 13" fluke all with the usual CNM-11 and CNM-9. Fish seemed to be hanging out near a tidal current.
Once the tide hit peak high, things died so I headed Downtown for something to eat.
Got back to find 2 snapper fishermen there but they weren't into it. I also tried throwing the CNM-11 but never got a single hit.
Last stop was Remington and got my limit of snappers with most being 6". I was surprised to be the only one there.
Hit the road around 10am
The issue with the outgoing tide seemed to have been the gusty 10 to 20 mph southwest wind that was kicking up the waves. |
