First post on this forum so I figured I'd start it off with a report from this morning. Headed out from captains cove at 5:00 am to fish the outgoing tide. Found a school of bunker right outside the marina that had a lot of big fish underneath them. Snagged a few and threw them back on the surface. Within 30 min we had 2 32" striped bass and a 17 lb bluefish in the box. Ill try to figure out posting pictures later

Things quieted down so we went out about a mile off Penfield light in 50ft of water and chunked for an hour or so. Landed one 29" bass before tide went slack.

Headed in and decided to fluke for a bit by the spindle. Dropped one fluke and a few short sea bass. Anyone been getting any luck fluking in this area?

You arent fishing in the wrong boat. You are fishing the worst area in the northeast. Nothing you can do about it but go out east if you wanna do well.

The trouble with the boats in the eastern part of CT. is, all just fish for blues, & the odds of you getting a striper aren't in your favor. Plus the only time any of them go for fluke is during the week & I'm a M-F ,8AM-5PM working class stiff so I'm kinda limited to what I can do.

The R.I. boats are good but then you got to drive 2hrs to get to them. So there is another issue. (Always something!)

I actually did pretty well on the MiddleBank, I went back in June for fluke, got 3 the biggest being 22 1/2" I won the pool. I just dont think anyone is doing well around here. RI is still pretty hot around Block Island

Block island has been really hot. I just came back from doing the Tri-state canyon tournament and besides the 250 lb tuna that we weighed to take 2nd, we took the third day and went fluking on the south of the island. In three hours we had caught over 20 fluke with the biggest being 5-8 lbs. Doormats!

Dot E Dee or the Otter are both great striper boats .
