Took the day off and we hit Winchester. We got a late start due to the rain, But got on the water by 10:30 AM. Overcast, Windy and chilly. Surface temp was low 72*F. Water was murky(Brown) and made it hard to see the submerged stumps.
Bass seemed active as we both caught several fish. Best one was a 20" 4 pound 12 ounces, Caught on a swim bait.

Soft(Mann's hard nose). Shad color. I tried a hard bait early on with no takers. The soft bait allowed me to fish it really, really slow because its weedless. Almost a dead stick on the bottom. Hard bait would have just hung in the wood or fouled with weeds with its treble hooks.

Ever try cutting off the front facing tip of the treble hook so that it becomes snaggless when you encounter logs and weeds.I did that to a few topwater spooks and Sebile swimmers. They fold up against the body as it slides over the weeds and logs.Other than a few weeds draped over the nose.It can be worked through some of the thickest weeds and brush you come across.I find no difference in the hook-up ratio. _________________ ...Randy...
