I went out on the Middlebank II today for my first fluke trip of the year.
Fishing was sporadic at best with a good mix of keepers & shorts to keep everyone busy. I got 1 keeper 20 inch & 2 shorts and of course a bunch of hits.
Pool winner was a 7lber that was caught on the boats 2nd drift, not too crowded about 22-25 people.
Glad to finally get out there!!!
Until next time...

John.

They are in Bridgeport,CT. a very nice operation. My favorite boat in CT. then 2nd would have to be the Hel_Cat II over in Groton, which will be starting a brief 1/2 day 4PM-8PM fluke trip in mid June to mid July.

I'm looking forward to getting into the fluke. Already caught stripers and recently got my first bluefish and sea robin of the year, including 6 weakfish in 1 day. All I need to catch now is a fluke.

Jimi,

I was thinking about going on the Middlebank this Friday.
What gear are they using for the fluke?

I have a spinning rod with an ugly stik I have used in the past that worked well.

What about their rig set up?

Thanks,

Rob

They use a Ugly Stik "Charter Boat Series" rod, 6 foot Medium heavy & conventional reel, the rigs are a swivel about a 8 inch space loop for sinker (we were using 4oz..) then about a 2 foot line to hook. Not sure what size hook.

I'll be going this Saturday with my nephew.
