I am fishing the DEP peer this evening for the first time. Any suggestions on how to fish it? Anybody have any success there?

Thanks,

Which DEP pier would you be refering to?If the Old Lyme one then yes and yes.
I have fished from it only twice but,i kayak/fish the area from the Baldwin bridge down.Try under the RR bridge(there is a deep hole under it.
The end of the pier along the Lieutenant river(there the channel is on your side alongside the pier.
Between the two is a shallow sand area that extends about 50 yards to the ct river channel.
Try topwaters, swimmers, bunker, squid the usuals i would say..
.
I'm a nighttime topwater person so a good ole "zara" that would be my choice.
