High tide for Bridgeport was scheduled for 3:40pm Wednesday and decided to start down at Fayerweather while the tide was still coming in. Started walking out on the jetty around 1:45pm.

Lures I played with while working my way out to the tip of Fayerweather were pearl grey shiner Flat Rap FLR-10, chrome Skitter Pop SP-9, shad Long Cast Minnow LC-10, and flake purple ghost Max Rap MXR-11.

Nothing happened until I got to the tip of Fayerweather. Saw 2 cormorants right near shore and a flock of diving birds in the same area on the edge of shore. Threw the SP-9 out there after seeing a splash. Got an explosion on one of my first casts and later landed a chubby 14" striper. Played around with those other Rapalas and a 4" Berkley Havoc Subwoofer rigged on a 3/4 ounce Hurricane jighead. Landed another striper the same size with the LC-10 and had a hit on the FLR-10.

Later once things calmed down and the cormorants weren't working the area anymore, I headed back to shore and checked out Black Rock Harbor by the fishing pier. One other lure I played with there was a glass ghost Clackin Minnow CNM-11. Didn't have any luck there.

Next stop was the boat ramp. Tide was beginning to go out by then. Caught a sea robin with the CNM-11. Never saw any signs of bunker and no gulls in Black Rock Harbor.

Made my way down to the rocky stretch where I was seeing sea robins swirling on the surface. Lost a sea robin on the CNM-11.

Next was Breezy Point. Chunkers were hitting taylors with mackerel on the bottom. Saw 1 guy get bitten on the finger badly by a 5 pound taylor. One of them set me up with a rig and chunk of mackerel seeing they were getting the blues. I had 2 taps by what seemed to be crabs.

Water was getting much lower and it was after 6pm once I made it over to the cannon. Caught a sea robin there with the CNM-11.

Last stop was the sandbar at Remington. Saw a surf caster there who caught a sea robin and small 12" striper on a Kastmaster. Sea robins were swirling on the surface in the flats. Another surf caster arrived later and tried throwing soft plastics, pencil poppers, and SP Minnow but he and I both had no luck. Small shiners eventually got thick later around sunset but no signs of predators.

Hit the road around 8:30pm.
