I'm gonna fish the Housy tomorrow (Wednesday) AM if I can drag my butt out of bed at 5:00 or so. I'll check the flow at the dam and if it's low head down to O'Sullivan's. Look for me if anyone is out there. I'll be yawning, wearing hip boots and a blue hat.

I got up just as the storm was making its way through. Fishing poles and lightning are a very bad combination. Will try again tomorrow AM.

Yeah, it's pretty unsettling on a boat when your rods actually start buzzing as they're discharging electrons.

I made it out this morning before the real rain hit. Tide was really low, lowest I've seen it there.

I hit on a nice fatty 28 incher on my second cast or so. Released her to please the fish gods.

The fish gods were not happy with me, though.

I got a nice hit a few casts later. As I was fighting him in I neglected to keep his head up. He must have run the line into a rock and I lost him along with my "go to" yellow pencil popper, and the only mono leader that I had in my surf box. (My own damn fault for not checking!)

A few casts later, on my white bomber I get another solid hit. Fight the fish, get him about twenty feet away, he hits bottom and snaps my braid. Now I'm down $35 in lures.

The action subsides for a while and then we can see the schools of fish come into the area. I'm tossing my black pencil popper (a desperation lure) and get a solid hit, that breaks off in seconds and, you guessed it, takes my lure with it. ($45 in lures if you are counting. Offset by the swimmer that I managed to pull from the rocks. Down three, up one.)

I throw out a few more casts with no action and then I really screw up. My blue Tsunami is cast into the rock pile and I lose that! (Down $60 in lures!) That did it for me. At least it was good to see and feel fish.

Man I've had those days before! Last year at the dam I had 3 brand new jointed bombers. Opened the container next to the shore and 2 fell out into the water with the current ripping and I never even had a chance to use them or reach down and grab them. I saved one and in all the madness thought I had clipped it on my line but never did and literally tossed it into the water! LOL. I can laugh at it now but I assure you I wasn't then, just at that moment it started pouring so I ran back to thecar like a little schoolgirl!
