After putting in the time at Twin Brooks Park and Bunnells Pond and getting the skunk at those 2 places, I went to the lower tidal section of the Pequonnock at Glenwood Park. Arrived around 6:45pm.

When I got there I noticed a nice crappie near the tunnel. Tried jigging a 1" hot pink tube rigged with a 1/8oz hot pink jighead. It looked at it a few times but didn't hit it. Next I tried throwing a glass minnow Husky Jerk HJ-6. The crappie and other fish looked at it but wouldn't hit it. Switched over to a yellow perch HJ-6 which had fish more interested but weren't being aggressive enough. Decided to see what something small and ultra light would do, which was a brown trout X-Rap XR-4. That had the fish going.

Through the remainder of the evening and after sunset, I used the brown trout XR-4 and did the slashbait action retrieve the lure is known for. Caught a total of 5 crappie, 4 rock bass, and 4 white perch. Lost a number of fish too.

2 of the whites were keepers, being 9" and 12" 11 ounces. One of the shorties was a spawning male.


2 crappies were edible, being 9" and a 13" 13 ounce slab. Other were no bigger than 6 or 7".


All rock bass were those that you would say, "eyes bigger than your stomach".

Hit the road around 8:30pm.

After putting in the time at Twin Brooks Park and Bunnells Pond without catching anything, I was rewarded with great panfish action on the Pequonnock.
