|
|
Saturday I decided to head down to the sandbar at Remington with my waders. Low tide was scheduled for 1:50pm and arrived just before 1pm.
Lures I played with included blue sardine Saltwater X-Rap SXR-10, purpledescent Clackin Minnow CNM-9, shad Shallow Shad Rap SSR-9, pearl grey shiner Flat Rap FLR-10, chrome Skitter Pop SP-9, and flake ayu Max Rap MXR-13. Setup was a 7' MH Daiwa Procyon Penn Sargus 4000.
Not much was going on until the turn of the tide. The lure that was getting lots of attention was the MXR-13. First fish landed was a 24" striper. Gave me a good fight on that light setup. Next was a 22" striper.
Things slowed down with the Max Rap so I played with the FLR-10 and SXR-10. Had 1 hit on the SXR-10 and FLR-10 and lost a nice fish on the FLR-10.
Switched back over to the Max Rap and later set the hook. This fish had my 10 pound Sufix mono screaming. Let it run for a while until it got tired and then carefully worked it in. Landed a new PB CT keeper measuring 32 inches and weighing 12 pounds 12 ounces!
Kept casting with the MXR-13 and landed another 3 stripers in the 14" to 18" range.
Bite died down once an east wind picked up and tide was getting higher. Hit the road around 3pm. |

This just makes me want to eat Reeses Peanut Butter Cups while fishing....Potentially my two favorite things in the world. Together at once.

Reese's should make PB striped bass in the spring and fall, like they make egg-shaped ones for Easter and tree-shaped ones for Christmas. They could sell them in the tackle stores. What else, PB bunker, PB eels... Unlimited possibilities
Nice job on the bass, Michael. |
