I went down to Haddam and launched the boat at Salmon River. The plan was to head down to Chapmans pond and on they way down, look for any striper action and throw a popper and see if I can get anything. Well, I didn't see anything so I got into Chapmons pond about 9:45.
The action was pretty steady at first and I lost a lot more fish then I caught.
But I managed to get 2 small bass and a pickerel on buzz baits and a ribbit frog and a white perch on a spinner bait.
By noon time, it was pretty dead, so I headed back to the boat launch figuring I'd had about an hour to try around Salmon river.
I let the incoming tide drift me into Salmon river and threw senkos and spinner baits with no luck.
So I switched to a Rapala Husky jerk and got a big hit which I thought was a big pike.
The fish put up a good fight on my bass rod and was a little surprised to see a nice striper on the end. I finally got it in the boat. A nice 30 inch striper.
I fished for another half hour after that and got another pickerel on the Rapala.
