Headed out to Rainbow Resevoir after work today on the boat. Hit the water at 4 and fished until 730 with some very spotty activity. 4 species landed, but not a single bass! 2 very preggers pumpkin seed, a white perch about 7 inches and a very nice calico bass

Water was a little choppy, greenish brown in color, temp was between 60-65. Fished the drop off near the launch down a couple hundred yards then worked the shoreline on both sides up to the first bend. Second time there this year so far, maybe ill wait for some Lilly pad to start showing up haha

I grew up in Windsor Locks, used to go there a lot when they had the salmon ladder. We had a bass boat when I was a kid, we used to go way to the back near where the farmington flowed into it... also I remember it had some type of bridge pilings that we used to fish. I don't have a boat so anytime I go there I fish from the launch area and catch nothing!

Couple guys at work were tellin me to hit those bridge pilings and that surrounding area, however, I was also told its a couple miles up river and I'm running a 12 foot jon boat with 24 pounds of thrust haha so maybe another day! To be honest I was a little suprsied at the lack of action, even when I threw on crawlers..

yea, if you search the reports of Rainbow here on the boards, they are hit or miss.. you really can't go far up the river, but the mouth as it widens and becomes "rainbow reservoir" is pretty good.

Try a drop shot. I think the smallies hold deep on structure there. I've banged the shore a lot from a kayak and not gotten much.
