My son and I hit McD yesterday. Lots of bass boats out there because they had a tourney. Still managed to find some good fish though. They are just starting to bed. Action came before noon.

Surface temp 63*F
clarity was stained
visibility 6'

Joey caught some good ones. Dad not so much. But we did catch over 20 LMB's. Dad caught a monster 11" gill on a 6 inch lizard. Embarassed

Great day on the water in our new toy! Fishing in style with a 2012 Stratos 285XL!

Thanks for the report. I was wondering whether McD is open. Sweet fish and an even sweeter ride!

Hey, is the cove in the northwest corner open to boats or do they restrict access during the spawn?

Its open until the beaches open. Then the no motor boat bouy gets put out! Member NWDarkcloud asked them last year and they(MDC) said we(bass boats) can use it, if you trim up the big motor out of the water. You can use the front trolling motor IIRC.

We didn't get many in the cove. Most of them were caught around the islands(pointes) and the hump in front of the boat launch.

I know there is a speed limit. But when did they make it a no gas motor lake,I checked both the MDC and DEEP sites and neither says anything about no gas motors.

Its only no gas motors down in the northwest cove area where the beach's are. Otherwise its just a 10 MPH speed limit for the rest of the lake.

FYI: $6.00 bucks to park and $6.00 bucks to launch.

jjbassfishn,
Are you a member of a club, or wish to be? It seems you have some skill and could put it to the test.

No, Too busy at work. I'm doing all this for my son. I have invested in the rig so he could fish tourneys if he wants. Next year him and a pal "may" join the BASS high school program. We'll have to wait and see.

For now its all just me and the boy out having fun. Making memories mostly! Wink

That's awesome, I like to hear stories like that. I have so many great memories from fishing with my father as a kid and it's just as much fun now to go out and fish with him. You make so many life memories that you just can't ever forget. Got to love fishing. Goodluck and have a fun time fishing with your son.
