I have a quick question. If a bass is hooked on a bed and you lose the fish after fighting it for a little bit will it go back to its bed or swim off? I hooked what I think was the largest bass I would have caught to date and I dont know if it was spawning but I did have it take the bait the spit it after a short fight then hook it again in the same spot and its spit it at the boat. _________________ Top 5 Favorite lures: Boo-yah Boo jig, Zoom Horny Toad, Rapala Husky Jerk, Berkley Power Worm, Senkos |

If it's a female it will go back, i'm not sure if they will be on the same bed a few days later but definitely that day. Also, if you hook a bass on a bed but it shakes the hook, just wait a few seconds and it will go back to the bed and most times bite again. I had a bass that i hooked 3 times before finally landing it on the 4th hook up off a bed last year _________________ this fish here is a real donkey!!! |

unless you are fishing a tourney where you can win some money, why bother snatching a bass off a bed.... _________________

I don't actually know if it was spawning, so i didn't do it intentionally and then it got me wondering if she would still be there _________________ Top 5 Favorite lures: Boo-yah Boo jig, Zoom Horny Toad, Rapala Husky Jerk, Berkley Power Worm, Senkos |

i dont think there's any harm done in catching spawning bass as long as you handle them gently and catch and release. _________________ this fish here is a real donkey!!! |

I didn't even catch it either hahaha it was just a question. of course I would like to but i didn't i never target spawning bass on purpose some people will get polarized sun glasses and heavy fluoro and go searching for beds. If i catch one then i do and I'm happy i caught a fish as would anyone else _________________ Top 5 Favorite lures: Boo-yah Boo jig, Zoom Horny Toad, Rapala Husky Jerk, Berkley Power Worm, Senkos |

The whole lake is shallow maybe 8 ft deep tops so even fish i catch in the summer are that shallow _________________ Top 5 Favorite lures: Boo-yah Boo jig, Zoom Horny Toad, Rapala Husky Jerk, Berkley Power Worm, Senkos |

If a bass is on a bed its fair game to me! I mean I leave the little suckers alone but if its big I am catching it why would I ever pass up such an opportunity. Its not like they abandon the nest after well not under normal circumstances. To be honest many times I find myself spending much more time catching bedded bass than I do with casting and retrieving because they are so picky and usually don't bite the whole bait. I spent three hours trying to get a bass on a bed once granted I would leave every few minutes to let her rest up so I could give her something new to look at. Its not as easy getting those bedded bass to bite as one may think. Sometimes they just don't care what your throwing at em. _________________ You know it was a good day when your thumb is all scratched up. |

When spawning, Bass become in-active for the most part. They generally don't leave the nest. About the only way to get bites is to target the beds.
If your not fishing a tourney. Please release them in the area that you caught them. The females stay on the nest to protect the eggs from predators! This means more fry to grow up to be lunkers! I don't know all the numbers, But not many actually get to be adults!
I have heard NY doesn't allow tourneys while bass are on the beds! _________________ PB LMB 9.3LBS Winchester Lake

Glass mounts these days are just as nice as a skin mount. My sons looks very real and actually was cheaper than a skin mount.

Nice! What did that weigh?I feel like its honestly the best way cheaper, more efficient and you preserve big bass genes in that lake _________________ Top 5 Favorite lures: Boo-yah Boo jig, Zoom Horny Toad, Rapala Husky Jerk, Berkley Power Worm, Senkos |
